A competitive opener likely to be dominated by the 3 Western Cape raiders. SWAZI QUEEN and ZETA JONES are closely matched on their improved recent form and make most appeal - winning chances. Well-related SONG, a full-sister to VDJ winner Belgarion, is maturing and with improvement should pose a threat. PHARR OUT does well from the front and is likely to adopt frontrunning tactics from gate No 1. LETS ROCK holds that rival on the form of a recent course-and-distance meeting. Verdict

Best-weighted MARMARA SEA has won all 8 of his PE starts and gone up 35 points in the merit ratings. While he rates the runner to beat on these favourable terms, each of those wins in the province has come on the Polytrack so he'll need to prove himself up to this mark back on turf. Verdict

Tricky, so go wide in Leg 1 of the Pick 6. CHAUELS CAMELOT and VISION OF FAME have hinted at ability in stronger Cape Town maidens over shorter trips. Both could improve racing in PE over this distance so must be respected, although riding arrangements suggest the latter is preferred. Stablemate INNERSPACE is another likely improver 3rd run back after rest/gelding and must be included over a trip for which he is bred. KING OF THE MOMENT is unexposed over ground and shouldn't be discounted. CAPE BATIS, CHAI and BILLI ANN all stay this trip and boast consistent recent form so could upstage their male rivals in receipt of a handy 2.5kg sex allowance.

Tricky. Cape Town raider WINTER'S AWAKENING has been rediscovering her form off a reducing mark and been staying on to finish close-up over shorter trips against her own sex recently. She takes on male rivals now but will enjoy the step up to 2000m and should acquit herself well off a 3-point lower mark. Late maturer TAKE THE WORLD won well as Computaform's Value Bet last time out and on that evidence, could be better still over the extra off a fair opening handicap mark. Stablemate SUPER NOIR wasn't disgraced on his handicap bow in a stronger race over further and ought to pose more of a threat on these terms. Verdict

Well-bred FOLLOW THE STAR was held in high regard early in her career but has yet to hit the heights once promised. She is, however, slung in under these conditions and, after staying on under a big weight to finish on the heels of the winner last time, could get back to winning ways having been docked 4 points in her rating. Improving 3yo fillies EN GARDE and KUNMING have plenty to find on these terms with that rival but are still learning their trade, but could make their presence felt. THERECANBEONLYONE and WORLD SQUARED appear best of the rest on recent form. ROMAN ROYALTY is currently out of sorts but is weighted to get into the action on her local introduction.

Verdict

TRIPPIN THE STARS wasn't winning out of turn on her local debut after narrow misses in Cape Town (turf) and Durban (Poly). She is well-bred and relatively unexposed, so could have a bright future in the province. With improvement expected, it wouldn't be a surprise to see her follow up on handicap debut. LOOKS LIKE MAGIC has found form and consistency since relocating to PE. She has run well at this level on Poly and should keep the selection honest in receipt of 3.5kg. VALERIANA and OLIVINE are closely matched on the form of a recent Poly meeting. Both should strip fitter this time around so could make their presence felt, though preference is for the former on these revised terms. ELUSIVE DIVA remains capable of getting a look in if bouncing back from a disappointing last start.

Verdict

WORLD RADAR has lived up to her lofty reputation winning 6 of 8 starts, all earned over this trip. She has been sparingly raced but well placed by her trainer and is proven when racing fresh - will take some beating in her hat-trick bid off an unchanged rating. Promising 3yo JOYFUL NOISE rates the obvious danger after 3 consecutive wins, from 1000m to 1200m, on both poly and turf. She is progressive and ideally distance suited, though will need to make further improvement on these terms to lower the colours of the selection.
