AMERICAN EAGLE showed promise on local debut and can go one better this time. STAR TROOPER has struggled of late but can pop up in a place. RUBY CLAIRE is knocking hard at the door and should be right there at the finish yet again. Well-bred filly WEARINGOFTHEGREEN was a disappointment in Gauteng but is back sprinting and could improve for trainer Alan Greeff. CALL ME CLARION did not show much in two starts in the Western Cape but has made the trip so could show vast improvement. WILD FIG is still learning about racing and was caught very late last time out. He is not well drawn but can win a race like this. ACTION AMERICA has been fair so far and can make the frame. HALF MOON ISLAND showed good improvement trying the grass and would not be a surprise winner. LOMU has made the trip from the Western Cape and is likely to improve so must be respected. MR BRIGHT SPARK has only had the two starts and is capable of improvement. PICK A POMODORO has a place chance. ROCK OF FUTURA was not disgraced on debut and could have a lot more to offer.

A competitive looking handicap. INNAMORARE was not beaten far in his recent handicap at Kenilworth and has won at this course so gets the vote to score. MASTER FORESTER is at his best around this distance and is not out of it. BRENDAN JAMES has been unreliable of late but has a place chance. Verdict

BOURNEMOUTH has impressed in his two recent wins and can take out this race as well. ZATARA MAGIC has beaten that rival over this distance and should be right there at the finish yet again. JUAN CARLOS is very consistent and should have no problem with this longer distance so can be competitive again. Those are the best three runners at the weights. REPETITION won his maiden at this track and could relish the longer distance so could be better than rated. HEEMSTEDE and HEART STEALER try this longer distance for the first time and are not out of it either.

Verdict

A very open looking East Cape Paddock Stakes. GREENLITEALLTHEWAY impressed with a good win last time out. This is a much tougher task but she may well follow up. TIME FOR LOVE has proven herself at this track and will be a threat again. The Alan Greeff-trained runners SPLICETHEMAINBRACE, LUNA HALO and LADY SILVANO are all coming back from disappointing last runs but would not be surprise winners as they do have ability. GIMMETHATPEARL, ROYALS and FUN ZONE have all travelled from the Western Cape for this race and deserve respect.

Verdict

ENCHANTING CHOICE was impressive in her local debut win and picked up an 8-point penalty for that win. This is a tougher task but she may well follow up. WILD APPLAUSE took a long time to get out of the maiden ranks but she does carry just 50kg and could be a threat back on the grass. CATCH YOUR BREATH returned to form with a well-backed win last time out and could follow up if in the same mood. MONTELENA has been unreliable of late but does have the ability to contest the finish. HEART PEAKS and CONCERTO could get involved with the finish.
