An interesting race with plenty of progressive and in-form young horses going to post. That said, the preference is for LORD NAPIER, who bolted up in a novice hurdle at Sedgefield last month and an opening mark of 123 appears to be fair. Major Hindrance won well over C&D back in January and both of his subsequent performances suggest that he can win a race like this off his current mark. That said, the one that stands out is THE BAY BIRCH, who has won impressively twice in her last three starts. On the other occasion the seven-year-old only found Wizards Bridge narrowly too good and that rival won at Fontwell on Friday. A 15lb rise in the ratings is an obvious concern but she is a progressive and may have more improvement to come. Duhallow Lad and Silverhow rate the pick of the remainder.

Persian Snow has struggled in both outings this season, but was a dual winner in this sphere last season and is respected if arriving here in the same form. However, it is the former Cheltenham Festival winner SALUBRIOUS who makes most appeal following an absence and he could have too much class for his rivals here if proving as good as ever. Tinkers Hill Tommy returned from 286 days off with a second at Chepstow, while O Maonlai has a touch of quality and makes his first outing for Alexandra Dunn.
