Charmed sets a fair standard by virtue of his second to Giorgio Vasari at Naas so perhaps it could pay to side with stablemate SHACKLETON HERO who is partnered on debut by Declan McDonogh. By first season sire The Gurkha, the selection is out of the Listed winner Blue Cloud who has produced a list of quality offspring including Group 3 winner Empowering. There is little to choose between Feeling Tip Top and Bears Hug who filled the minor places behind Inca Chief over course and distance a fortnight ago, while others to consider include Hale Bopp and Mickey The Steel. The latter finished well on debut at Fairyhouse last week and should appreciate this extra furlong.

Watch out for: Charmed (4)

MICKEY THE STEEL produced an encouraging debut effort when third at Fairyhouse last week, forced to switch 1f out before running on late, and should improve over this extra 1f. He shades the vote over Bears Hug, who also made an encouraging start to his career when third over C&D, and Feeling Tip Top, who went close in a similar event at Dundalk 2 weeks ago.

Allagar would look something of a good thing on her form in stakes company when beaten just over two lengths in the Group 3 Flame Of Tara at the Curragh and again on a much sounder surface in a Leopardstown Listed race on Irish Champions Weekend. However, the daughter of Vocalised might be flattered a little as she has failed to come close to that form on many occasions in maidens. WATERCOLORMEMORIES made a promising debut over this trip at Leopardstown and has filled the runner-up spot on both subsequent outings. She may find a little improvement with the Ger Lyons team right back to form in recent weeks following a quiet patch. Anna Strada merits respect on her second to Amber Kite at Gowran Park, while there are plenty of interesting newcomers to assess in the preliminaries.

DEFILADE gets the vote despite some doubts about this trip being on the sharp side. The Bated Breath gelding has been lightly-raced since a promising second to Killourney at Gowran Park last year and has dropped down in the ratings after trying a variety of trips this season. He came home well over course and distance last month in a race that has been working out and is preferred to Mulzamm, who has progressed in leaps and bounds this year winning three times. Hieroglyphic and Kokura have both won maidens over course and distance, while Miss Cunning has recorded all three wins at this venue and provided Jessica O'Gorman with a dream start to her riding career last time. Eglish completed an all-weather hat-trick earlier this year but has disappointed since a promising fourth at Naas in July. The booking of Colin Keane catches the eye and perhaps the return to Dundalk can rekindle the spark.

NEVER BACK DOWN was once rated well over 100 during his time in Britain where he was a four-time winner for Hugo Palmer. He's finding it hard to get his head in front off his much-reduced mark in Ireland, but he's twice been runner-up over this course and distance and has Colin Keane aboard for just the second time. Dark Magic has been a very effective handicapper since joining Johnny Levins and added two wins on turf this summer to his course and distance win here last December. He's one to consider, along with Helen De Pourtales who defied a six month lay-off when winning over a mile here last month. Billyfairplay is a useful sort who may enjoy a return to the all-weather and his best run of the summer was when second to subsequent winner Royal Canford at the Galway Festival.

He was in good heart earlier in the season including when third to subsequent Group One winner Champers Elysees at the Curragh and has good prospects for his in-form stable. Trading Point ran his best race since joining Ado McGuinness when touched off at Listowel and he won at this course around this time last year. Acquiescent was just denied by course stalwart Geological on his penultimate start and may have better prospects than Ice Cold In Alex, who is slowly dropping in the ratings but is without a win in over two years.

CALL ME ROCKY has run creditably in both handicap starts since winning a maiden at Limerick in July. He shaped well in a maiden at this venue last year and he can go close for Ben Coen who has just returned after missing a couple of months through injury. Alhaazm, a full-brother to Irish Guineas winner Awtaad, gained a breakthrough win over 7f here last time and should be competitive again over a furlong further and up 4lb in the ratings. Longbourn had placed form at this track last year and is one to consider in his first handicap after a maiden win at Tipperary. Bucky Larson has run in some hot handicaps since winning at Gowran in June and can't be ruled out in this grade.

Watch out for: Alhaazm (12)

A wide-open handicap with the vote in favour of 3-y-o CALL ME ROCKY. A winner of a Limerick maiden in July, he's ran well to be placed both starts in handicaps subsequently and looks sure to go well again. Bucky Larson is easily forgiven his latest effort and is feared, along with Alhaazm and another 3-y-o Psyche.
