Championship-chasing Cheltenham heroine Rachael Blackmore might notch another winner with JOHNGUS here. Forward-going JOHNGUS has shown a nice level of ability, was touched off at Gowran two runs ago and was in strong contention when falling, as leader, at Fairyhouse last month. Stepping back up to 2m3f should suit ideally today and he should be able to account for Stranger Danger, when finished second in that Fairyhouse race but appeared well held by JOHNGUS when he fell. Gelee Blanche was pulled up in that Gowran race behind JOHNGUS and while she is reasonably capable, might struggle to win. Grail is a half-brother to a five-time winner and could go well on debut.

American trainer Keri Brion might gain a deserved first Irish win with FRENCH LIGHT here. A dual American winner, point-to-point winning FRENCH LIGHT has shown solid form in Ireland this year and drops, slightly, down in grade today having shown good ability in finishing a disqualified second in a Listed race at Punchestown last month before running another solid race in a Naas Grade 3 recently. Drying ground will suit and he should get involved at the business end. Mitchouka is an interesting runner in that he has done very well over fences in recent times and reverts to hurdles today from a 14lbs lower hurdles mark. He will be well suited by trip and drying ground albeit his last handicap hurdle runs, in 2019, were a little underwhelming. Pure Genuis won his maiden hurdle very easily in January and but was well beaten in a useful handicap, over that same 3m trip, at Leopardstown subsequently. He drops back down in trip but needs to show a little more that his Leopardstown run. Coach Carter was a good winner of his maiden hurdle recently but steps up markedly in grade today while Rasiym is a capable type at this level and could run well on his reappearance run. Bold Enough has his first run since October and while he'll be well suited to drying ground, was well held in his previous handicap run.

SPACE CADET might follow up last year's win in this race. Lockdown I ended his 2019/20 season prematurely and while he reappeared over hurdles in January, connections will have targeted this race and he comes here following a good third-placing, to Shady Operator in a Punchestown cross-country race last month. Both SPACE CADET and Shady Operator are very closely matched on revised terms from that Punchestown race and while Shady Operator also has strong claims, he was well enough held on his previous handicap chase starts. Fourteen year old Kruzhlinin is the winner of 14 point-to-points and comes here in excellent shape having won a handicap chase at Navan recently. A talented type on his day, Kruzhlinin could run well from his revised mark today with his Cheltenham winning rider again claiming 7lbs. Mon Lino is a dour stayer and while he is frustrating to follow, comes here fit and well and likely to run another good race from his mark. Dubai Devils stays well and has light weight while High Sparrow is proven in these staying chases and can get involved. Nick Lost ran well on reappearance at Thurles in January but was pulled up on his latest run.

Four-year-old point-to-point winner ROUTINE EXCELLENCE might win this on handicap debut for his Stayers Hurdle winning trainer. ROUTINE EXCELLENCE showed plenty promise in winning his Tinahely point last October and while beaten out of sight in a Bumper (when well supported) and three subsequent maiden chases, he contests his first handicap today rated just 90 and will be better suited to drying ground, given his point win was on yielding ground. West Is Best brings proven form here and is 6lbs higher than when winning at Clonmel recently. He is an able type at this grade and should run well. Fox Le Bel has hinted that he is well handicapped and while he was reported 'clinically abnormal' when pulled up at Thurles in December, was third at Fairyhouse subsequently and drops in grade for today's race. Crack On Corrie, who received her handicap mark on one beginners chase run, is another able type at this grade while Rubiana is similarly useful and is a previous course winner. Midland Millie was well held on her latest two runs but had previously shown good form in October/November.

ARCTIC COMET has progressed well in point-to-points and can get off the mark on his first racecourse run. ARCTIC COMET initially showed little in his points but seemed to improve with every run last winter, culminating with a 5L defeat of Cloudy Tuesday at Kinsale in December. Cloudy Tuesday, a capable type, then won a Thurles hunters chase beating today's runner, a danger, Saint Benedict by 9.5L suggesting ARCTIC COMET has strong claims. Cemister, formerly with Willie Mullins, won a point-to-point for new connections at Stradbally last December but faces a much stiffer task today, albeit the booking of Jamie Codd is a big help. Dual points winner Pyrios is tried in first-time blinkers while Carrig Hill is also a dual points winner but is long absent.

FIRE SQUADRON can win on his first bumper run. Well beaten on debut last month, he ran a cracker when second to a smart type (who won impressively over fences subsequently) at Fairyhouse and today's race looks very winneable. Ultra Viers has shown bits of bumper form and while clearly vulnerable to more useful types, should still get involved for the placings. If You Dont, in a first-time tongue-tie, is the first foal from an unraced dam while Drumbear has a useful flat pedigree and is another notable newcomer from another capable yard. Game And Glory ran a nice race on debut here last September (the runner-up won a Ludlow maiden hurdle next time) and while the her lack of a recent outing is a negative, the booking of Patrick Mullins is a positive and drying ground will suit.
