A repeat of TRICKLE OF SILVER's latest third could be good enough in this grade as he bids to gain a deserved first success after a few near misses this year. La Racine looks the biggest obstacle in the way of achieving that success and he has to be feared most; Rockit Man looks best of the remainder and can run into a place.
MAMBO MOON only went down by three quarters of a length on his latest start; that was his best performance for some time and he could have more to offer on just his second start for Julian Canet. Canyon Runner is entitled to go close following his win here last month, whilst market support for Salary Cap would look significant.
Gryffindor is in good form but a career record of just two wins from thirty starts tells its own story and he could find DR. BLOOMER too good here. The selection came between runners to win going away last time and as that was just his third run of the year he should have more to offer. Earnest Storm could go well on his return from a break and looks best of the rest.
Very little form to go on so the market should provide an invaluable guide. Latin Fire is well drawn, but ALTAMA makes plenty of appeal on pedigree and has a top jockey in the plate for his debut. Two Punch Jones and Gateway West are others to watch closely.
With horses from the rail post winning almost one in five races here, it may be worth taking a chance on TWO BAYOU from the in-form Scott Lake barn. Gracie Girl and Slew Proud have more obvious claims, while Flowerbud looks sure to give a good account; all three are entitled to go close in an open contest.
Ebony Star boasts the highest speed figure at today's distance and won a similar contest a year ago. If she can recapture that form she would have every chance. Look Of Love has claims on her recent easy success in a slightly weaker contest over a route here, while in-form Five Star Dream is also worthy of consideration. Preference, however, is for MISS SAVANNAH ROSE, a close second in higher grade last time and the winner of a tougher contest here back in July.
Pam's Girl has the highest speed figures of these and was a very easy winner last time out. This is tougher but she must come into the reckoning, while Miss Beverly has twice been placed in similar contests but tackles grass for the first time. SIGNIFICANT OTHER was a close second in this grade last time having previously won a decent maiden claimer and, although she too has not raced on turf, she is open to plenty of improvement after just two starts.
Rainbow Inthestorm lays claim to the best speed figures among these and has scored in this grade, but he hasn't won since the start of the year. This is tougher than the two races Scary Bob won with ease during August, but Tartlet was second in a much more valuable event last time and won in this grade before that. It might be worth taking a chance on MINOR TEMPTATION who returned from an 11-month absence to land a slightly weaker contest here last month and is entitled to improve for the run.
Carnivalle was third in this grade last time and is open to improvement after just two starts, but she was well beaten last time and hasn't raced for more than four months. Truely A Dream has been placed in similar contests lately, but has never really threatened and it could pay to give AF LAFEMME NIKITA another chance. She was a long way back when a place behind Truely A Dream last time, but had previously failed by only a neck in similar company, form that would be good enough in this field.
