SAM BASS did the job nicely enough on debut before never really getting involved the next day in the race won by Burrenbridge Lodge, who reopposes here. It may be worth giving the Noel Meade charge another chance to confirm the good impression made first time up, especially with the yard in such good form. The top weight has shown a really resolute attitude to land both starts and seems sure to go well again, whilst The Gondolier, Whatever It Takes and The Quiet Hawk all have acceptable claims. Keep an eye on the Gordon Elliott-trained newcomers, Canna and Musawama, in the market.
Sam Bass should finish closer to Burrenbridge Lodge than he did at Gowran last time if put into the race earlier, but the latter is taken to uphold the form and maintain his 100% record in this sphere. Thegondolier did the job well at Thurles and has to be respected, while the Gordon Elliott-trained newcomers Canna and Musawama should be monitored in the betting.

SWORD OF DESTINY is inexperienced having just had the one run over timber but could hardly have been more impressive when hacking over his field at Punchestown and it's notable that Noel Meade has hoisted him immediately in grade. He should appreciate this trip and gets the vote with no problems regarding the ground. Point The Toes has enjoyed a really strong autumn and is clearly on the upgrade. She rates a major threat in her current mood. Farrells Fancy looks progressive and Becauseicouldntsee is presumably warming up here for a return to fences after falling at Aintree last spring.
Sword of Destiny created an excellent impression when hacking up in a maiden hurdle last time and, with the Meade yard continuing in excellent form, he looks set to follow up. Farrells Fancy is open to lots of improvement, whilst Taraval will relish the step up to 3m.

There's a question mark over many of these getting the trip on the soft ground but that's not the case with ANOTHER PALM. The Meade charge ran a tremendous race over 3m6f at Punchestown in May when runner-up to Uncle Junior on yielding ground and a repeat would see him go close. Hopefully, first-time blinkers will have a beneficial effect and he is forgiven his latest defeat over a trip too short. Indifference Curve looks an obvious danger, while Somatic has probably been laid out for this and looks threatening from the depths of the handicap.
Smoking Aces shapes as though this trip will be within his range and has to be high on the list following his encouraging reappearance effort at Punchestown. However, preference is for Indifference Curve who lost little caste in defeat when chasing home the classy Tharawaat at Galway, and is just 1 lb higher now. Streets of Gold is the pick of the remainder.

Jetson sets the standard of those to have jumped a hurdle and will have no problem with conditions. However, he's not been seen since finishing a good second to Lios A Choill at Navan in February which is a potential concern. There are a number of interesting bumper performers making hurdling debuts here and the booking of Barry Geraghty for SAINT GERVAIS certainly catches the eye. He was disappointing last time but had previously looked progressive and gets the vote. Daring Article, Shrapnel, Andunowhat and High Class Show all have respectable bumper form, whilst Spot Fine also merits respect.
Jetson sets the standard on hurdles form and is respected now starting out for Jessie Harrington, but a chance is taken on Shrapnel who is bred to excel over obstacles. Saint Gervais is another to consider now switching codes.

The latter is 3lb worse off here but the contest will probably be decided by the quality of fencing from the principals. Cross Appeal scored with plenty to spare from Stonemaster recently and looks the most obvious beneficiary should either of the aforementioned pair fail to fire.

Plenty with claims but KNOCKIERAN has enjoyed a fruitful autumn under her talented claimer and can gain a third success in her last four outings. The Finn mare is versatile regarding trip but does give the impression that this return to 2m4f will prove beneficial. She was especially impressive when obliging over today's trip on soft/heavy ground at Listowel in September. Bonifacio did the job nicely here last time and should remain competitive despite an 8lb punishment from the assessor. He's dangerous and keep an eye out for any market support for Great Work on his handicap bow.

With little form to assess, the market assumes more significance than usual. Andreas Pride looks best of those to have visited the track and should be involved in the shake-up with her experience likely to prove valuable. However, if the money speaks strongly in favour of HATS AND HEELS, the Mullins charge could be the one to beat. The yard is traditionally quieter on the run-up to the New Year but still houses a bumper record second to none. Quarterpastsix and Way Up In The Air are others to keep an eye on in the market.
Hats And Heels and Young Lady are both likely-looking newcomers, while the presence of Nina Carberry aboard Into The West makes the last-named interesting. However, it could be worth siding with Garranlea Maree who showed enough when runner-up in a point in June to suggest she'll be up to winning races under Rules.
