AVELLINO ran a cracker on her return from an absence at Fairyhouse last month and is the one to beat now. Dermot McLoughlin's charge looked set to score on her chase debut but was headed after making a mistake at the last. The winner then, Choungaya, has a rating of 134 so it was a good effort and back against her own sex now she can open her account over fences. Pepite De Belle, rated 119 at one stage over timber, looks a possible danger. She wasn't disgraced in a good mares novice hurdle last time and coming from a yard associated mainly with point-to-pointers she is sure to be well schooled for her chase debut. Shuil Luas has plenty of experience from point-to-pointing and hunter chasing. She is only rated 95 but could be place material.

BRAWLER has been knocking on the door and deserves to get his head in front over fences. Ciaran Murphy's charge has been placed in three chase starts and bumped into a smart sort in Duc D'allier at Fairyhouse last time. He should be capable of landing one of these races, restricted to horses rated 116 or less over hurdles. The White Volcano is another who has to have a big shout in this type of race as he has a current mark of 116 over fences. The September Storm gelding is tried in a visor now and Danny Hand takes a useful 7lb off his back. AN MARCACH has been running well on defeat of late and can get his turn now. Rachael Blackmore takes the mount now on the Milan gelding who has run solid races to finish third on his last four outings. He is only a pound higher than when behind Kristian Goingwel at Punchestown last time and deserves to get a first career success. TRUMPS ACE has been out of form this term but a chance is taken with her on the basis of her course form. She won back-to-back handicap chases at this venue last season and might be able to bounce back having had a break since December. Western Boy has always shown plenty of ability on the Flat and over hurdles but hasn't been tried too often over fences. His fifth to Chatham Street Lad on his most recent chase start would give him obvious claims in this company. The other McManus-owned runner, Buttons And Bows, could be on a nice mark for her first handicap chase and any further drying of the ground would help her. Twice a winner over hurdles for Joseph O'Brien, Ellipsism starts off for Michael Winters and is worth considering although he would ideally prefer a longer trip. Best of those towards the bottom of the handicap might be De Bennette, a course winner over hurdles and a good third at Naas when last seen over fences.

MARSHALLED has a course win over hurdles to his name and can defy topweight to win. Padraig Roche's Flemensfirth gelding went well for a long way in his second handicap chase at Navan last time before finishing third after a mistake two out halted his momentum. He's open to a lot more improvement than the gallant veteran Flynsini who gained his fourth career success on that occasion. Lacken Bridge has had a recent run after a long lay-off and was a fast-finishing second in this race last year. He's one to bear in mind, along with last year's third West Is Best who also acquitted himself well when finishing fifth at this track in November. Goulane Jessie stays well as she showed when second over fences at Punchestown in January. She is turned out again quickly after finishing fourth over hurdles last weekend and, if the race doesn't come too soon, is capable of getting involved in the finish.

SAINT BENEDICT has good course form and might go one better than on his last two visits to this venue. Runner-up in a similar contest last year, he went even closer last time when just touched off by Templebredin in a driving finish in January. The blinkers he sported for the first time then are retained, and the winner franked the form with a respectable run in a much more competitive hunters' chase at Thurles. Last time out point-to-point winners Fiston Du Mou (from a leading point-to-point yard and with first-time cheekpieces applied) and Clounts Glory (first-time tongue-tie) are respected. First-time headgear is also tried on Complete Sizing who looked a useful prospect when winning his first four point-to-points a few years ago. His track form thus far has been disappointing but he could get competitive here in the hands of Jamie Codd.
