JUGE ET PARTI encounters a bit of good ground for the first time since romping to victory in a Bangor bumper in April 2017, and having shown a good level of form when going close on three occasions last season, could have lots more to come in the handicap ranks on just his second start for Nigel Twiston-Davies. Solstice Star bounced back to form when scoring over track and trip last time and is respected off just a 3lb higher mark, while Steel Bob and For Carmel have some smart form to call upon and are others to note.

SOLSTICE STAR came in for an excellent tactical ride when cashing in off his reduced mark over C&D recently. However, he remains with plenty of handicapping scope and could be worth chancing to follow up again partnered by Richard Johnson. The returning Steel Bob, handicap debutante Chloe's Court and Juge et Parti are all solid contenders also though, in a competitive opener.

Stuart Edmunds sends his Listed bumper-winning mare QUEENOHEARTS over hurdles for the first time and can open her account over timber at the first attempt against the geldings. The step up in trip should suit having proved she's tough and brave at Sandown last season and she could make up into a useful novice this season. Point winner Deise Aba is interesting on his Rules debut wearing a hood, while 380,000-pound purchase Know The Score, who impressed on debut at Towcester, was pitched in at the deep end in the Champion Bumper next time out and should find this a much easier challenge.

KNOW THE SCORE wasn't up to the task of the Champion Bumper, but is better judged on his winning debut at Towcester where he created an excellent impression and surely has a bright future over jumps. Queenohearts is another interesting hurdling debutante having won 2 bumpers last season, while Storm Arising’s third in an Irish point back in February is good form, so he commands respect.

GARRANE wasn't far away when second here on his seasonal reappearance and could go one better from just 2lb higher over this slightly shorter trip with that fitness edge a bonus. Snuff Box makes appeal on his seasonal bow having scored easily over hurdles when last seen in the spring and shapes like fences may bring the best of him. Mr Mcguiness was travelling well when unseating at Exeter and may have more to come off his current rating, while Glen Forsa and Minellatillmorning are others to consider.

Ekayburg won two of his four bumper starts in France last year, the latest coming in Grade 2 company, and has subsequently been bought by Cheveley Park Stud. He warrants plenty of respect on his hurdling debut, but preference is for the race-fit DARK EPISODE. This Getaway gelding wasn't far behind the smart Hold The Note (beaten under three lengths in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham last weekend) in a Newton Abbot bumper last month and Richard Johnson has interestingly chosen him over stablemate Ebony Gale, a smart performer himself. Golden Whisky is another interesting player on his seasonal reappearance.
