DOLOS was last seen finishing third in a Listed event over hurdles at Auteuil in April, after which he joined Paul Nicholls, and that experience could prove to be vital this afternoon. That said, Rainbow Dreamer has plenty of experience from the level, where he was a useful performer for these connections. If he can translate his Flat form to hurdling then he can give the selection plenty to think about. Cliffs Of Dover has proven himself over hurdles but his penalty will make life hard for him today.

ARPEGE D'ALENE was unfortunate to bump into the useful Junction Fourteen on his chasing debut in a Grade 2 at Wincanton last November and he was clearly not right when pulled-up on his only other start over fences. Since then he has won a Listed handicap hurdle here in February and he then finished a close second in the Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival. The rest are relatively closely matched on hurdles form but Potters Corner and Vieux Lille would appear to be the pick of them.

IRISH CAVALIER faced some stiff tasks last season, including when fifth in the Gold Cup, but he ended his campaign with an impressive display in a handicap chase at the Punchestown Festival. A 7lb rise for that win is more than fair and he is a seven-year-old still entitled to improve with another year on his back. Junction Fourteen disappointed in the Galway Plate last time but he should find this more suitable. Art Mauresque, Double Shuffle and Voix D'eau are others who merit respect, though Sire De Grugy looks to be vulnerable from his current mark.

The step up in distance here will no doubt bring about improvement from the son of Kayf Tara and he shades the vote ahead of Paul Nicholls' duo El Bandit and Bagad Bihoue, both of whom merit this step up in class after impressing on their recent hurdles starts. Coo Star Sivola is entitled to improve, having finished a good third in the Fred Winter, as is Two Taffs, who is a novice until the end of the month having won a handicap hurdle at Ayr's Scottish Grand National meeting.

COURT BY SURPRISE bumped into a well handicapped horse in Danimix in this contest 12 months ago. Emma Lavelle's charge has a good record when fresh and looks a solid option off an 8lb lower mark. A 60,000-euro purchase, he comes from the family of decent staying chaser Pomme Tiepy and can get his career off to a flying start for Paul Nicholls.
