There is plenty to whet the appetite for the season ahead, not least the return of Grand Annual winner Next Sensation, who failed to fire at Aintree in April but can give a good account from the front here. Eastlake trailed Next Sensation at the Cheltenham Festival and also has a bit to prove after failing to fire at Liverpool, but has gone well when fresh in the past and shouldn't be overlooked. DUNRAVEN STORM claimed the scalp of Vibrato Valtat over C&D in his novice chasing campaign, and perhaps he has more to offer in handicap company. Boondooma also appears to have plenty more to offer in this sphere and completes the shortlist.

It's great to see Champion Court back in good form and he ought to go well off top weight, while impressive Ludlow winner Azure Fly is also closely considered. Preference, though, is for last year's winner ROALCO DE FARGES, who was a long way below his best in the bet365 Gold Cup when last sighted. He goes well fresh and is only 4lb higher than when scoring impressively in this 12 months ago, so he is taken to strike for his in-form yard. Theatrical Star and Fox Appeal can go close if fully wound up on their respective returns, and the newly-visored Silver Man shouldn't be overlooked either.

The eye is immediately drawn to Parlour Games, who was a Grade 1 winner in his novice hurdling season and ran excellent races in defeat at two festivals in the spring. He has the class to win this on his chasing debut, but perhaps it is worth chancing AZORIAN at the forecast prices, as he proved he had an engine when chasing home the 145-rated Devils Bride on his first start for Gordon Elliott, and should have more to offer for these connections. Art Mauresque trailed a Cheltenham Festival winner at Newton Abbot, and both Long House Hall and Double Shuffle are worth noting in a wide-open renewal.

Thomas Crapper is sure to be on the premises if his poor run at Towcester was only a blip, while Arabian Revolution was well fancied when down the field in the Fred Winter. DANCING MEADOWS was extremely impressive when winning at Downpatrick last month and if she remains in good form then her handicap mark doesn't look prohibitive. Face Value has been going well recently and could well prove to be the mare's biggest danger. Sky Khan and Towering are others worthy of consideration.

Chic Theatre was mightily impressive when a winner at Plumpton in February and he deserves a place on the shortlist. A similar sentiment also applies to Fountains Windfall, whose performance at Fontwell was arguably more impressive because he was making his racecourse debut that day. That said, they both may struggle to give 7lb to HIGH BRIDGE, who was well supported in the market when second on debut earlier in the year. Being by Monsun and out of a 1,000 Guineas winner he is bred to be decent and he only found one too good that day, with the winner going on to be second at the Punchestown Festival. Given the yard he represents, Close Escape deserves to be respected, although his point form doesn't look the strongest.
