A very winnable maiden which can go the way of LOCHNELL. Jim Goldie's mare produced her best effort to date when a creditable fourth behind the useful Hurricane Hollow over 2m here last month and a repeat performance alone will see her go very close against these lesser rivals. Gold Opera certainly hasn't shaped without promise in both bumper appearances and can figure prominently on his hurdling debut, while Azure Glamour, Danehills Well and Eshtiaal are others to note.

Watch out for: Gold Opera (6)

Better can be expected from Azure Glamour on the back of his recent Kelso return, but Lochnell similarly made an encouraging comeback for her new handler here last month and could open her account if building on that up in trip now. Resolute Reformer may prove the pick of those going hurdling for the first time.

MAGGIE BLUE ran a blinder over C&D 16 days ago, only headed inside the final 50 yards and having to be content with second spot. She pulled 14 lengths clear of the remainder, however, and is taken to gain compensation, despite a subsequent 8lb rise in the ratings. Last-time-out Hexham winner The Flaming Matron returns from a break and steps up in trip but has place claims along with A Shade Of Bay, who is entitled to strip fitter for her reappearance run at Uttoxeter.

Watch out for: The Flaming Matron (3)

An open event with no standout contender and something to recommend them all. The Flaming Matron gets the vote as she looked much more at home returned to hurdles when winning at Hexham in May and remains unexposed over this sort of trip. A Shade Of Bay ran her best race for a while on her Uttoxeter return, while Playhara's sights are lowered, though nagging doubts remain stamina-wise.

Doubledisdoubledat will enjoy the testing underfoot conditions and may have been let off lightly with a 5lb rise for his latest Kelso success, but his record suggests he'll come on for this comeback run and narrow preference is for REDPENDER. Last sighted running out a ready winner over C&D, he is still open to some improvement over fences and should take plenty of beating. Dingo Bay looked a horse on the upgrade last winter but has a point to prove having ended his campaign with something of a whimper. Markem should go well with a recent pipe-opener under his belt and he completes the shortlist.

MAD FOR ROAD needs to improve on his latest effort at Fairyhouse if he's to defy a 7lb higher mark but he represents a powerful owner and any market support for him would be notable. Nelson du Ronceray has won over C&D in the past but hasn't tasted victory since landing a selling hurdle at Wetherby in 2012. In the context of this race, he has strong claims, however, given he has tasted success over timber. Scimon Templar has place claims if putting his best foot forward.

Mad For Road is taken to make a winning debut for Ben Haslam. His Irish hurdles form is only modest, though connections racked up a 4-timer earlier this year with a very similar type in Ever So Much. De Chissler is respected despite obvious concerns about his jumping, whilst Tuesday's easy Sedgefield scorer Ellistrin Belle must enter the equation if taking her chance.

It was impossible not to be impressed with the manner of VASCO DU MEE's 31 length victory at Down Royal and a repeat performance should see him follow up. Wicklow Gold was bought for 13,000 pounds out of the Willie Mullins stable at the Dbs Sales in September and judged on his head defeat first time over fences at Downpatrick, that could be a shrewd bit of business going forward, while Wetherby scorer Ballyben receives a good lump of weight from his two rivals and certainly isn't here to make up the numbers.

Vasco du Mee was a facile winner back over fences with a tongue tie applied at Down Royal 11 days ago and looks the one to beat. Ballyben is receiving plenty of weight from both his rivals and has finally got his act together in this sphere, but may have to make do with the runner-up spot.
