Paul Nicholls' representative ran out a most impressive winner on his hurdling debut at Fontwell last month and he could prove a tough nut to crack this afternoon. Bucking The Trend made a winning hurdles debut at Stratford and he is entitled to the utmost respect.

Full Of Joy has a lay-off to overcome but he proved that he can go well fresh when narrowly denied at Fontwell on his only outing of last season. He is considered along with Balbriggan, who made a winning chasing debut at Bangor last month. However, the one to beat could be TIGRE D'ARON. He shaped nicely on his first run over fences over 2m4f at Fontwell last month and he should strip fitter this afternoon. The step up in trip should also suit him.

A wide-open contest and a case can be made for plenty of them. Florafern has been raised 8lb for her defeat of Kindly Note at Worcester last month but she could go well again. Kindly Note was well beaten behind Grassfinch at Uttoxeter subsequently but she is capable of better. Grassfinch has been raised 6lb for that win but that might not prevent another big run. Bunglasha Lady is worthy of consideration despite her lengthy lay-off but a tentative vote goes to KAHSABELLE. She returned to form with a decent second at Ludlow last time and she is not impossibly handicapped on her best form.

Top Tip: Kahsabelle (16)
Watch out for: Florafern (1)

No standout here, but Pyleigh Lass improved when second at Exeter last time, and remains unexposed given this sort of test. She's preferred to Florafern and Be My Light, while a market move for the returning Bunglasha Lady would make her of interest, too.

There is no doubt that Finian's Rainbow is top class and he has won first time out for the last three years so there is little reason to oppose him on that score. However, he might not have had to be at his best to make a winning return in previous years and it might be worth taking him on this time. His 2011 Arkle conqueror Captain Chris is the obvious one on these terms but with the benefit of race fitness under his belt, FOR NON STOP edges the verdict. He absolutely bolted up in the Grade 2 Old Roan Chase at Aintree on his reappearance and although soft ground might not be ideal for him, it is hardly the preferred surface for the aforementioned pair either.

Watch out for: Finian's Rainbow (1)

Reigning Champion Chase winner Finian's Rainbow has to concede weight to his 4 rivals but is fancied to make a winning return. Captain Chris, in receipt of 10 lb, and recent Old Roan Chase winner For Non Stop are by no means discounted and are feared most.

OSCAR WHISKY is a model of consistency and is going to prove hard to beat over this sort of trip all season. He claimed his second Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle success when last seen in April and can make amends for falling in this event when odds-on favourite last year. Raya Star has something to find with the selection on these terms but he's clearly still progressing judged on his top-weight win over 2m here recently, and that first outing since April was entitled to be needed. Get Me Out Of Here was no match for Oscar Whisky when in receipt of weight at Cheltenham last December, but he returned to action with a convincing victory over Brampour at Kempton last month and the step back up to this longer trip will hold no fears.

It is most unlikely that Grade 2 winner Champion Court will be contesting too many handicaps in future but he will surely find this trip too sharp on his return to action. Tanks For That won first time out last year and he can play a leading role on his reappearance today but soft ground might not be ideal for him. TOUBAB looked somewhat a work in progress last season but he might have gone very close in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham had he not been brought down four-out, and his subsequent second to Sprinter Sacre at Aintree was very respectable. With Marodima and Mad Max likely to set a brisk tempo, this could be set up nicely for him to make a winning reappearance.

Top Tip: Toubab (5)
Watch out for: Champion Court (2)

Tanks For That goes extremely well fresh, producing a career best after a break when runner-up in the Grand Annual at the Festival, and gets the nod ahead of Toubab on his reappearance. Pepite Rose is another that ought to be in the shake-up.
