There are plenty of others with claims, however, including Annie Mc, who has placed in both starts over hurdles thus far and might not be badly handicapped off 118, and cosy Haydock scorer Newtide. Potters Hedger, It's Got Legs and Almost Gold are others to watch out for.

CALL ME LORD has done little wrong since joining Nicky Henderson from France and ended last season on a high, building on his narrow Imperial Cup defeat to score by 16 lengths in the Select Hurdle. The lack of a recent run is an obvious concern, but he looks the type that will likely have improved for another summer on his back and could take high rank in the staying hurdle division this season. The 2016 winner Unowhatimeanharry arrives on the back of a comfortable victory in the Long Distance Hurdle and will be hard to keep out of the frame, while Agrapart is entitled to improve for his comeback spin at Aintree and has conditions very much in his favour today. Last year's winner Sam Spinner, who is equipped with first-time cheekpieces, and the progressive Paisley Park add further spice to the race.

JOLLY'S CRACKED IT defied a near two-year absence when impressively landing the Coutts Handicap Hurdle over C&D last month and, providing the dreaded 'bounce factor' doesn't come into play, he looks well capable of defying a 9lb hike in the ratings. Fidux has returned a much improved animal this season, building on his Southwell success when running away with a Listed handicap over this track and trip, and he won't give up on the hat-trick without a fight, while Greatwood Hurdle scorer Nietzsche also merits consideration under talented conditional Danny McMenamin. Western Ryder has twice run well at Cheltenham this season and he's certainly not out of this, nor is Fiesole, who won readily at Tipperary when last sighted and now debuts for Olly Murphy.
