Beat The Judge was rather unfancied when scoring at Kempton over the Christmas period, but the stable often do well with their juveniles and it would be no surprise if he was to prove that win was no fluke here. However, it is another surprise Kempton winner who gets the nod, as VLANNON makes a quick reappearance having accounted for the highly regarded Chaparral Prince last weekend. Poucor was visually very impressive when scoring at Hereford earlier this month and the yard are flying in this sphere this season, while Zafar is capable of building on his Taunton second representing a top team.

Wolfcatcher was a comfortable 19-length winner of a small-field affair at Musselburgh in December and is sure to be popular on the back of that off a 5lb higher rating. However, it may pay to side with ECU DE LA NOVERIE, who has a wealth of chasing experience in France and accounted for the talented Mr Fisher on his UK debut at Newbury in November. He hasn't been beaten far in two runs since and remains on a workable mark. Un Prophete has to be respected for the in-form Venetia Williams team, while the best may yet to be seen in this discipline for Risk And Roll.

BENATAR did not appear to stay 3m when finishing third here shortly before Christmas but his previous form suggests that he can win a race of this nature off his current mark. The consistent Happy Diva chased home a talented rival at Cheltenham last time out and she should be in the mix once again this afternoon. Paul Nicholls has won this race a couple of times in recent years and his pair of Cyrname and San Benedeto both have solid each-way claims. Mister Whitaker was not disgraced in the BetVictor Gold Cup but that performance indicates that his mark may be stiff enough at the moment.

A poor turnout for this prestigious event and ALTIOR should have no problems taking his jumping total to 17 from 17. The 175-rated performer stepped up on his battling Tingle Creek victory when trouncing the opposition in the Desert Orchid at Kempton last time and he can extend his winning sequence barring any accidents. Diego Du Charmil trailed the favourite by 19 lengths at the Surrey venue latest and it could be Fox Norton that fills the runner-up berth. Colin Tizzard's inmate is unlikely to be in peak condition on his first outing since pulling up in the 2017 King George, but he is a dual Grade 1 winner in his own right and can hopefully post a solid performance before sampling more big-race success in the coming months.

DOWNTOWN GETAWAY cost 350,000 pounds after his impressive bumper victory at Fairyhouse in 2017 and he made an encouraging debut for connections at Newbury last month.
