SAMURAI SWORD was off the track for nine months before making his reappearance in a competitive Sandown handicap last month. He was very well supported for his in-form stable but gave the impression, perhaps understandably, that he was just in need of the outing and experience. This looks a reasonable target. Tropical Beat and Obsession both arrive on the back of ordinary maiden successes but are handicapped accordingly and could prove far better than their current ratings. Silenzio and Above All, both unexposed sorts for top yards, also catch the eye at the foot of the weights.
Buzz Law has looked an improved performer of late and, with his Redcar race throwing up subsequent winners, he can complete a hat-trick at the main expense of Tropical Beat and Samurai Sword.

Sir Mark Prescott has wasted little time in returning COEUS to the fray after an excellent opening to the season and a first run on turf when only succumbing to the unexposed Seal Rock in a competitive Newmarket handicap last weekend. He looks a good bet to go one better off this mark before being reassessed. Vanguard Dream has finished third and fourth to the 2000 Guineas first and second in his two outings this term and should obviously find this easier. He's a live threat with Acclamazing and Florestans Match adding further spice to an interesting heat.
It's tempting to stay aboard the Acclamazing bandwagon, though this demands more from him and he has to prove he's still as good at 7f as 6f. Winter's Night is one who surely won't have any problems with this trip, and she's preferred narrowly to Vanguard Dream.

RAINBOW SPRINGS was turned over at long odds-on at Haydock but there seemed to be excuses although it remains a disappointing performance. Her juvenile career comprised a distant view of Frankel in a three-horse affair at Doncaster and a superb effort when second in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc day. She has to be worth another chance here on those efforts. Parvana looks the sort to improve at three and could be interesting in handicaps, whilst Creme Anglaise was seemingly unfancied when showing promise at Newbury. Floral Beauty is a well-bred newcomer representing the Stoute stable.
Oaks-entrant Rainbow Springs holds an outstanding form chance on her effort in France, but she was most disappointing on her return, so is opposed with Parvana, who looks the type to prosper this year.

Check the market as some interesting newcomers take on three with form in the book. Guru Girl makes most appeal of those to have run although Karuga is presumably considered better than her unspectacular debut for the Hannon team when fourth at Folkestone. Therefore, STARFLY is the choice for the Noseda yard whose talented juveniles are invariably well backed so market support would enhance confidence. Mick Channon has his juvenile team in good heart at present and Represent, an Exceed And Excel filly, is another to catch the eye although stable youngsters often need their first run.
No surprise if Starfly goes close for a yard which tends to have its juveniles well forward, but Guru Girl shaped very well at Newmarket on debut and has the scope to do better. Karuga is another who will improve for her initial outing.

GEE DEE NEN is worth chacing. He's been plying his trade over the sticks for the past ten months and scored very sweetly over fences here last time, is down to a very attractive mark whilst trip and ground will be fine. Advisor is of interest returned to both the Flat and the care of Michael Bell. He stuck on well last time when runner-up at Windsor and is a real danger if getting this trip. Cat O' Nine Tails looks well treated at the start of her four-year-old campaign whilst Ermyn Lodge is due another good season.
Plenty to consider, although Gee Dee Nen just gets the verdict from a tempting mark. Last year's first and second Ermyn Lodge and Bow To No One need consideration, as does Salontyre, despite being out the weights.

NOBLE STORM has one way of running and will surely set out to blitz his rivals on this lightning fast ground. Life is steadily getting tougher as the handicapper inflicts his punishment but he was most impressive last time and can follow up and complete the hat-trick. Elnawin is a talented sprinter and rates a major threat having blown the cobwebs away on his Musselburgh reappearance. He houses some useful Group and Listed form whilst Monsieur Joe has shown plenty of zip in five races at Meydan this year and certainly merits a place on the shortlist.
Monsieur Joe will be a big threat to Noble Storm if back on his game faced with this lesser task, but Ed McMahon's speedball was so impressive in making a winning return that it's very hard to desert him.
