PYM made a very pleasing start to his career over hurdles with a fluent success at Chepstow, beating a useful sort of Alan King's in Deyrann De Carjac, and follows the same route as Altior did in his novice hurdle campaign. This looks a weaker race than he encountered last month so he is expected to defy a penalty before going on to bigger targets. Anemoi showed good form in bumpers last season and can make up into a smart hurdler for Harry Whittington, while Rock Steady reached a good level on the Flat and is now in the care for Alan King who does well with such types.

WENYERREADYFREDDIE improved markedly from his first run over fences at Kempton, where he jumped poorly, when second to smart hurdler Lil Rockerfeller at Uttoxeter a month ago. Although it was a beginners chase, the handicapper could have held a dim view given his proximity to the former Stayers Hurdle runner-up but left him on the same mark. Sternrubin and Amour de Nuit both won two-runner events at Exeter and Ludlow when the pair were last seen, but they can prove very competitive having shown good form over timber.

Go Conquer won this in good fashion last season and has a fantastic chance of repeating the dose off a 5lb higher mark now in the hands of new trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies. Art Mauresque has ground to suit, while stablemate Adrien Du Pont is still to hit his peak over fences and makes appeal up in trip. The much-improved Too Many Diamonds looks to continue his fine 2018 which has seen him improve 33lb over fences since receiving a wind operation last winter, with Ramses De Teillee interesting having received the same procedure during his summer break. However, a chance is taken on the eight-year-old TRAFFIC FLUIDE, who followed up his Cheltenham success in the spring with a near miss on his seasonal reappearance in a Chepstow handicap last month. That should have blown away the cobwebs and he is representing the yard which won this in 2016.

Zyon was tenderly handled on his debut at Wincanton in the spring and the 105,000-euros purchase will be expected to do much more now, while Fubar chased home a useful rival at Market Rasen in September and is respected for a team in decent form. However, preference is or Warren Greatrex's EMITOM, who scored on his debut at Warwick in the spring and should have plenty more to give. The Gold Well gelding was well punted on that occasion and his stable, which has plenty of success in this sphere, clearly hold the youngster in high regard.
