Expert Analysis

Not the best running of this famous race, and the form is substandard behind the first 2, who came clear. A low draw is usually a help here, and first and second came from stalls 5 and 2 respectively, most of the more fanciable runners drawn high. There was a ragged starts but sectionals show that it was run at a strong pace – some extra credit may be merited by the runner-up in that respect – with everything returning a finishing speed % of 98.7% (the winner) or lower.

A CASE OF YOU (118 here, 114 previously) had a strongly run race at around 5f again and performed even better to record a last-gasp win, in mid-field and with a fair amount to do pushed along vigorously after halfway, having to pick his way through but producing a strong run when in the clear to make up a few lengths and get the verdict on the nod. He does this well, but should be OK back at 6f. 

AIR DE VALSE (115 here, 108 previously) had things go right and ran her best race since beating Wooded at the course and distance 13 months ago, probably improving in fact, quickly away and disputing from a low draw, quickening clear 250m out but caught on the line. 

GLASS SLIPPERS (100 here, 112 previously) is probably best forgiven a slightly disappointing run, slowly into her stride and on the back foot as a result, improving into mid-field but able only to keep on for pressure a bit wide when it mattered. She probably retains her ability.

MO CELITA (100 here and previously) ran well again, without necessarily improving significantly, chasing the pace and keeping on.

SUESA (97 here, 116 previously) had a few things go wrong here but has to be considered somewhat disappointing even so, slowly into her stride and bumped soon after the start, wide though travelling OK before one paced for pressure. Goodwood looks like it may flatter her, but a return to 6f may help.

PONNTOS (96 here, ? previously)

WINTER POWER (90 here, 120 previously) had no real excuses here, having won a Group race on similar ground last year, quite free as usual, soon disputing the lead but put in her place 250m out and emptying by the end.

LADY IN FRANCE (83+ here, 102 previously) was better than the result, slowly away and a good few lengths down but making some headway, without being a threat, when short of room late on.

ROMANTIC PROPOSAL (82 here, 113 previously) was switched and bumped Suesa soon after the start, never looking like getting into it thereafter.

PRADARO (78 here, 111 previously)

WILD MAJESTY (74 here, 100 previously)

DANDALLA (? here, 105 previously) was always on the back foot after a slow start.

BERNEUIL (? here, 115 previously) had a poor draw and was slowly into his stride but offered little this time even so.
