Expert Analysis
The so-called “Fillies’ St Leger” and it featured a performance that would have seen Free Wind at least placed in a good few of the real things, as she stormed to a clear-cut victory, this up there with Enbihaar’s 2019 success as the best recent win. It was a relative test of speed, on ground that was just about “firm” judged on times, and with the winner’s finishing speed coming in at around 107%. They raced a bit off the far rail in the home straight.
FREE WIND (112 here, 107 previously) is really thriving now, following up her Group 3 win at Deauville with an even better effort here, soon steadied to mid-field, making smooth headway to lead 2f out and quickening clear, given one reminder then pushed out until near the line. Raced only on good or firmer on turf, she should have no problem returning to 12f and is open to further progress.
GOLDEN PASS (101 here and previously) was back to her best, staying on readily having tracked the pace.
YESYES (99 here and previously) repeated the level of her Chester listed win, close up before leading briefly 3f out and sticking to her task, likely to get even further given the chance.
EILEENDOVER (98 here, 96 previously) ran well in this much higher grade, a bit wide in mid-field, brief headway over 2f out then one paced. One of the best bumper performers of the last jumps season, she would be an exciting type for hurdles if connections choose.
TRIBAL CRAFT (97 here, 106 previously) shaped a bit better than the result, steadied into last and going well for a long way, improving to dispute second in the penultimate 1f before emptying. She should be as effective back at 12f.
URBAN ARTIST (94 here, 102 previously) possibly found the ground too firm, soon beaten after dictating the pace.
SAVE A FOREST (93 here, 97 previously) disappointed somewhat, though this was no easy task, held up in touch but in trouble 3f out and one paced.
SILENCE PLEASE (93 here, 104 previously) possibly found this too far, even under these circumstances, not far away though wide 3f out, making no impression thereafter.
