Another imperious victory from Ka Ying Rising – his 12th in a row, 8 out of 8 this Hong Kong season, all but one of them at G1 or G2 level – and he deserves to be regarded as not just the best sprinter in the world but the best active racehorse in the world on a few bits of form. The overall time was 0.68s outside his track record here, a slightly soft mid-section contributing to that, resulting in a swift 21.78s final 400m (103.9% finishing speed), but also winning with something in hand.

KA YING RISING (124+4 here, 128 previously) is easily the best sprinter around right now, Northern or Southern Hemisphere, but also probably the best active racehorse. He took this in superb style, racing in 5th, manoeuvred a bit wider at halfway and going well before quickening brilliantly to lead with 300m to go, soon well on top and merely nudged along until near the line. He is effective at 1200m and 1400m, and the very valuable Everest at the shorter trip at Randwick in October promises to be just his cup of tea.

SATONO REVE (116 here, 118 previously) had won the G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen at Chukyo the time before and should have been significant opposition for Ka Ying Rising but could not land a blow, pushed along mid to rear early, going better by halfway but merely keeping on.

HELIOS EXPRESS (115 here and previously) did well to come from out the back, even faster than the winner late on, but under quite a bit more pressure as well, never nearer. He has come up some way short of Ka Ying Rising, however he has been ridden of late but is a very smart sprinter in his own right.
